Chabertia, adult male

This is a whole mount of the nematode. Features to note are:
  • 1-2cm long nematode found in the colon of ruminants, principally sheet & goats
  • Large buccal capsule at the anterior giving it the common name of "large-mouthed bowel worm"
  • Large bursa with long projecting spicules at the posterior end is characteristic of the male of this species.
  • The bursa is absent from the female which has a tapered posterior
