Section of sheep oesophagus infected with Sarcocystis

This is a low power view of a section through a tissue cyst of Sarcocystis. The cyst represents a single host cell that has been greatly enlarged by the presence of the parasite. The nucleus of the host cell can be seen in the bottom right of the cyst "wall". The bradyzoites are arranged as a pink-purple staining layer around the outside of the cyst while the centre is filled with fluid and some supporting structure.

Also in the picture is a small cyst to the right of the large cyst.
