Press PLAY to watch the first video.

Comercial diets provide adequate levels of nutrient, provided that there is no evidence of metabolic or gastrointenstinal disease.

However, the skin uses a high proportion of the daily dietary nutrient supply and in cutaneous disease nutrient supply may be inadequate even if a normal diet is fed. Poorly stored or formulated dry diets can also cause problems.

We need to know the details of the diet not merely to evaluate whether there is any problem in the level of nutrients but also because we may wish to institute a restriction diet later on.

Pay particular attention to the possibility that the owner may be feeding tit-bits or other extra components, tablets and so on, e.g. herbal remedies, which may not be considered to be part of the diet.
