Owners find it very difficult to believe that if fleas cannot be seen they can still be a problem. Flea bites can cause minor and usually transient irritation in healthy dogs but often infestations with several fleas will pass unnoticed. However, even a single flea can cause substantial pruritus if flea hypersensitivity is present.
