Oesophagostomum - nodules on gut wall

	Group: Bursate, non-migratory, Strongyle nematodes
	Host species: Ruminants, pigs
	Features: The whitish, raised structures are nodules which enclose the L3 stage  developing in the mucosa Nodules can be up to 5cm  across and contain greenish eosinophilic pus and larvae The moult to the L4 stage takes place inside the nodule and the L4 stage then emerge into the gut Heavy infestations can lead to an ulcerative colitis
