Nematodirus - anterior region

Group: Bursate, non-migratory nematode
Host species: cattle, sheep
Features:

Cephalic vesicle just below the mouth opening. Seen in both males and females

This is a fluid-filled expansion of the cuticle and is best seen in fresh specimens. It helps the worm maintain its position between the villae of the gut.

Don't confuse this with a buccal capsule that surrounds the mouth as found in Bunostomum and Chabertia
