Haemonchus - anterior region

Group: Bursate, non-migratory, trichostrongylid nematode
Host species: Cattle, sheep, goats
Features:
  •  Simple mouth - no buccal capsule - compare with Bunostomum or Chabertia
  • Small cervical papillae used to keep the worm in position during feeding - not always obvious as they can collapse against the body wall after they have been removed from the host
