Sporulated oocyst

This is a high power view of a sporulated oocyst.

The contents of the oocyst has divided up into 4 sporocysts each one containing two sporozoites which takes place 2-3 days after the unsporulated oocysts was passed out in the faeces. This process is called sporulation and the sporulated oocyst is now in infective for other animals. The refringent layer round the oocyst is an optical illusion.
