Blood-stained droppings from an acute Eimeria tenella infection

Blood-stained droppings are characteristic of acute E.tenella infection in chickens. The blood comes from the massive cellular destruction that is associated with the cycles of asexual reproduction that takes place early in infection (3-5 days after infection).
