Develop an approach which suits you and is appropriate to the case, and ensure that you have a suitable environment for the examination.

• You must have sufficient space and good lighting
  
  
• Obtain assistance if the owner cannot help or interferes with the examination
  
  
• Use a muzzle and / or sedate the animal if necessary
