There were no significant changes in either CSF (or plasma) values of Neurokinin A throughout the seven weeks after rubber ring castration.  This despite increases in behaviour suggestive of chronic pain or discomfort associated with the lesion produced by the break down of tissue by the ring at the neck of the scrotum.
